Bad Girl
BAD GIRL is a riveting psychological thriller in the vein of “Hand That Rocks The Cradle”, and “Single White Female”. Incorporating elements of horror and black humor, the film takes us behind the manicured lawns and designer kitchens of a gated community, into the dark heart of a middle-class family that comes under attack from one of its own.
Accountant PETER ANDERSON is finally moving his wife and teenage daughter to a country estate. It’s a fresh start for the troubled family; Peter hopes Christmas in the new house will bring them together. But his plans are thrown into disarray by the arrival of sixteen-year-old CHLOE, his long-lost surrogate daughter. Chloe is beautiful and charming… and definitely not everything she appears to be. Beneath her willowy good looks lurks a malevolent force of nature, bent on destroying the family she believes abandoned her. Chloe is whip smart, ruthless and scheming…a great villain. Peter’s initial delight at having her back gives way to fear and recriminations as she turns the family members against one other.
As the family splinters around him, Peter must embrace his long-repressed dark side to hold things together. Peter is a great protagonist - the vulnerable underdog who, in confronting Chloe, must confront his worst fears about himself. Maybe the apple didn’t fall far from the tree after all… And as Christmas day descends into violence, father is pitted against daughter in a bloody battle for control of the house. By nightfall there will be only one Anderson standing.
BAD GIRL offers devastating insight into the modern family. It asks the questions- What is a family: who gets to decide? Does nature trump nurture? It is both identifiably Australian and universal in its themes, and will appeal to a broad audience, successfully tapping into our deepest anxieties about family and our place in the world.
